Fractured Prune Doughnuts, the gourmet doughnut shop at the Village at Leesburg, has announced they will close permanently this weekend. Saturday is reportedly their final day.
The store made the announcement via social media.
“With a heavy heart, we would like to share the news that after two years our storefront in Village at Leesburg will be closing its doors,” the message read in part. “We will continue to operate our food truck and book events in the Northern Virginia area. We are immeasurably thankful for our loyal customers over the last two years and hope to serve you again at one of our mobile stops!”
The local operators launched a Fractured Prune food truck in the spring of 2018.
The Leesburg location of the Maryland-based chain first opened in October 2017. It was the second attempt in town for the brand, which had a Fractured Prune location in downtown Leesburg years ago.
Two doughnuts shops shutting down in the same week? It’s time for me to open up a doughnut shop!
Sorry to say this but it doesn’t surprise me. I like the Fractured Prune and have great memories of going there in Ocean City when I was a kid and was hoping for it’s success in Loudoun. But for a place that needs a high volume of sales, why would they be in such a hard to get to place? Especially when you think people would want to pick donuts up on their morning commute when they don’t have much time.
Yep that’s why the Frederick location is successful.
Been open many years in great spot
