An Indian restaurant in the Broadlands Village shopping center in Ashburn has apparently closed its doors permanently. The Malgudi Veg Indian Restaurant & Bakery is locked up and the sign has been removed from the facade.
That sign was perhaps best known for being fabricated in the controversial “Comics Sans” font — a script that many people in the art and design world strongly dislike.
Malgudi Veg first opened in 2019 in a large, 4,000 s.f. space in the center. It served both northern and southern Indian cuisine, had a big lunch buffet, and also had a bakery component offering cakes and pastries.
No word on why the restaurant has closed. There’s no sign on the door nor any announcement on social media.
Since the unit has been “built out” for a restaurant, it’s now known as a “2nd generation restaurant space” — and it’s likely a new restaurant will come in a take over the space.
