New in NoVa: 801 Chophouse headed to Tysons

Northern Virginia has no shortage of steak houses, but that’s not stopping plans for a new entry to the scene.

801 Chophouse is described as a “New York-style steak house” with “prime cuts of beef, seafood and a large wine selection offered in an elegant, clubby setting.”

According to construction plans, the steak house is coming 8484 Westpark Drive. That’s just off Route 7/Leesburg Pike in Tysons.

801 Chophouse got its start in 1993 in Des Moines, Iowa. Today, there are seven locations all in Midwestern or Western states. Tysons appears to be its first venture into the east coast steak house scene.

The menu at 801 offers appetizers such as Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Seared Foie Gras, and Roasted Marrow Bones. There’s the classic French Onion Soup, a Tomato and Onion salad, and the 801 Iceberg Wedge.

At the Denver 801 location, steaks range from a $40 per ounce Wagyu Japanese A5 steak to massive 30-ounce Porterhouse for $139. Side dishes offered include a 1-pound baked potato (which The Burn personally takes as a challenge).

There is a custom cocktail menu, a huge fresh seafood menu, and house made desserts. You can see a full 801 Chophouse menu here.

The new steak house is just in the planning stages, getting the permitting and construction ball rolling, so no target opening date yet. We’ve got a message in to the 801 Chophouse HQ for more details.
