Something is afoot with a former bank building in the Cedar Lake Plaza in Sterling — and while nothing is confirmed — clues indicate it could become Loudoun’s latest Taco Bell restaurant.
Follow along with our research: the building in question sits at 46901 Cedar Lakes Plaza. That’s in a small retail center anchored by a Cocos Food international grocery store.
It’s also the location where the new Mangolina Salvadoran snack shop recently opened.
The bank has been home to several different financial institutions over the years, including a Sandy Springs bank site.
Online leasing site shows there is now a new tenant circling the site — that a lease is at hand. But who might the tenant be, you ask.
Well, documents filed with the county feature a proposal to tear the bank building down and build a new 2,248 s.f. fast-food restaurant with a drive-thru lane. It just so happens that there is a Taco Bell model store that comes in at exactly 2,248 s.f.
Even more convincing, the applicant is an LLC called ABTB Mid-Atlantic. Coincidentally, this company reportedly owns multiple restaurants — specifically Pizza Huts, KFCs, and — wait for it — Taco Bells.
Just to be clear — this is all very premature. Right now, the application to build a restaurant on the site isn’t even formally submitted. They are doing their “pre-application” meetings and work.
But based on the clues we have found, we feel that a Taco Bell is a pretty sound guess for what the applicant hopes to build at that location. Only time will tell for certain.
