Westbound Dulles Greenway closed Saturday morning for race

This Saturday — May 6 — will see the third annual Run The Greenway event — and along with it, the Greenway itself will be closed for several hours in the westbound direction.

The roadway — 267 West — will be closed from State Road 28 to Exit 6 at Ashburn Village Boulevard. The closure will run from approximately 2 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. The eastbound lanes will remain open.

The reason for the closure — the highway will be occupied by upwards of 2,000 runners participating in a 5K and a 10K race, as well as a Kids Fun Run.

Along with Greenway being partially closed, the following exits will be closed as well per Greenway officials:

  • Rt. 28 North on ramp to the Dulles Greenway
  • Rt. 606 Old Ox Rd
  • Rt. 607 Loudoun County Parkway
  • Ramp G to 267 West from Eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH). All traffic exiting the airport expecting to use Ramp G to 267 West will be rerouted to Route 28 Northbound.
  • Traffic exiting the Dulles Toll Road West bound must exit at 9A or 9B to avoid the Dulles Greenway closure

Drivers should expect possible delays in the area as traffic rerouted through Sterling and Ashburn along Waxpool Road and Route 7.

Run The Greenway raises money for local charities in Loudoun County. Last year, the event brought in more than $220,000.
