New Italian coffee shop and market coming to Leesburg

A new Italian specialty food store and market is coming to a unique building in Leesburg. It will be called Caffe Bottega Italiana and it’s opening in the little white house at 8 Fort Evans Road NE.

That’s the location that was home to All Things New Again for 24 years. The former furniture and home decor store opened in the little white house in 1998 and closed last year.

Now, a banner has gone up announcing Caffe Bottega Italiana — which translates to Italian Coffee Shop.

The sign says that the new shop will offer “focaccias, pinsas, paninis, coffee & more.” Focaccias, of course, are a savory Italian bread — sometimes served with seasonings and toppings. And most of us know what paninis and coffee are. But what are pinsas?

According to online foodie sources, pinsas are small, hand-pressed pizzas with a cloud-like crust that are one of the latest trends to come out of Italy. The word pinsa apparently comes from the verb “pinsare,” or “to press.”

The Burn hasn’t heard of anyone else offering pinsas in the area — although it’s certainly possible we’ve overlooked it somewhere.

A peek through the windows of the future Caffe Bottega shows some shelves with Italian food products on them, such as pastas and oils or sauces. There are also several refrigerated display cases that will undoubtedly soon be filled with Italian treats.

No word on when the new “Italian Coffee Shop” will open, so stay tuned and we will definitely keep readers posted.
