Opening date announced for Hangry Joe’s in Leesburg

The veritable Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken invasion of Loudoun County is about to begin. The first of three stores coming to the area has announced its opening date.

It looks like the Hangry Joe’s in Leesburg will be the first one to cross the finish line when it opens its doors officially this coming Tuesday, May 30.

The restaurant is located in the Leesburg Plaza shopping center on Market Street. It’s tucked away in an end-cap position a few doors down from the Books-a-Million bookstore and more or less behind the Planet Fitness.

The sign is up on the exterior facade and inside, the menu board is illuminated and a huge Hangry Joe’s mural runs the length of one wall.

As The Burn has been exclusively reporting, there are three Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken locations coming to Loudoun County.

Besides the Leesburg location, there is one coming to the Cameron Chase Village Center in Ashburn, and another headed to the Town Center at Sterling plaza off Route 7.

The brand got its start in 2021 in the Richmond area and is expanding rapidly. It’s already launched multiple locations here in Northern Virginia and has stores open or pending in more than a dozen states.

The founder of the Hangry Joe’s brand is Derek Cha, who also founded the Sweet Frog froyo brand. The restaurant specializes in the Nashville-style hot chicken sandwiches, which are available at varying degrees of spiciness.
