Gringo Gordo Empanadas expanding to Leesburg

Gringo Gordo Empanadas — a locally based fast-casual brand — is expanding its operations in the area with a new location in Leesburg.

Gringo Gordo currently has four shops currently — three in the Winchester area and one in Purcellville.

Now, we’ve learned that they will be bringing their gourmet empanadas to downtown Leesburg, operating out of space at 101 South King Street.

That’s the same building where Delirium Café is located at the corner of South King and Loudoun Street SE.

Gringo Gordo will be in a small restaurant space on the back of Delirium, facing the parking lot, where Balls of Glory used to be located.

Empanadas are a baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and usually a savory filling. It’s common in Spanish and related cuisines.

The menu at Gringo Gordo includes breakfast empanadas, with ingredients such as egg, cheese, chorizo, and potato.

They have meat pastries with fillings like brisket, smoked chicken, and Argentine beef. And there are veggie empanadas such as black beans and corn, or mushroom and kale.

Plus they have dessert empanadas. You can see the full Gringo Gordo menu here.

No word yet when the new Leesburg outlet for the company will open. Stay tuned for more details.
