Leesburg getting a new Virginia ABC store

Leesburg area residents will soon have a new place to purchase their liquor. A new Virginia ABC store is in the works for the town.

The new store will be going into the Shops at Compass Creek development. That’s the retail development that has gone up near the airport, with a Walmart and the ION International skating center.

The ABC store will be taking a 2,000 s.f. spot tucked in between a new AT&T store and the Bruster’s Real Ice Cream shop.

According to the VABC website, this will be only the third liquor store in Leesburg. By contrast, Ashburn has five ABC stores.

No word yet on when the new store will open. Construction hasn’t started yet, but — in our experience —ABC stores usually move quickly, so sometime later this year is a safe bet.
