Wild Wood Pizza serves up its last pie at the Village at Leesburg

The team at Wild Wood Pizza fought the good fight, but to no avail. The pizzeria located next to the CMX movie theater at the Village at Leesburg has closed — effective immediately.

“I’ve typed this post 7 times so far. There’s just nothing that says what this feels like,” wrote owner Curtis Allred on social media. “We opened with a bang, then the pandemic response suffocated us. We fought to regain the magic and simply never did. We’ve made some amazing memories and loved so much of what we’ve done. From take home kits to kids pizza making classes to even doing pizza camp this summer, it’s been a wonderful ride. Sadly, it’s time to exit the stage. We are unable to meet our obligations with our current sales volume and more debt is simply irresponsible.”

Allred’s poignant message goes on to say they may consider relaunching if they find the right spot in Loudoun. In the meanwhile: “We thank our guests, our vendors, and business “village” for all the support. I just wanted to cook for you. Thank you for the opportunity. See you around.”

It’s been a tough year for Allred. News first broke back in January that Wild Wood was leaving the Village at Leesburg, but in April, Allred announced they had gotten a reprieve and would be staying. But unfortunately, that didn’t last long.

Wild Wood first opened back in February 2020, just weeks before the pandemic exploded. It was a new venture for Allred who also owns the Delirium Cafe, a Belgian beer bar and restaurant, in downtown Leesburg.
