New steakhouse, cozy pub in the works for Middleburg

A popular steakhouse located in Culpeper VA is expanding and bringing not one, but two restaurant concepts to Middleburg.

It’s known as the Piedmont Steakhouse, or more properly “Piedmont: A Virginia Steakhouse” and it opened its first location more than a decade ago.

Now, they have their sights set on southwest Loudoun County. The primary new restaurant in Middleburg will be another location of the Piedmont Steakhouse. The second concept will be a smaller bar and grill attached to — but different from — the main restaurant.

The folks from Piedmont have purchased the building at 115 West Washington Street that was vacated by The Fun Shop, a gift and toy shop that closed earlier this summer.

The new location will feature roughly 8,000 s.f. of space for the restaurants — much larger than what they have in Culpeper.

While the main space will be the Piedmont Steakhouse, a bar/grill area will be carved out featuring a separate pub menu.

The name for the smaller restaurant hasn’t been settled on yet, but they may do something to honor Howard Allen, a longtime Middleburg resident who once had his photography studio in the building.

The menu at the new steakhouse will be similar to the one currently offered in Culpeper. This includes a mix of fine dining — such as Lamb Lollipops, Lyonnaise Potatoes, and a Bison Ribeye — as well as familiar comfort food like Fried Pickles, New England Clam Chowder, and Chicken Parmasean.

You can see the full dinner menu at the current Piedmont Steakhouse here.

We’re told construction on the space should be starting soon with a target opening in early 2024.
