Subway launching footlong chocolate chip cookies

We don’t usually write about minor menu changes at restaurants, much less big chain restaurants. But when we heard about Subway’s new footlong chocolate chip cookies, we thought we would make an exception.

If you didn’t catch the recent news, the ubiquitous sandwich shop chain has been experimenting with the 12-inch treats at a few select stores around the country. Now, every Subway store will soon have them.

“The overwhelming response we received from fans around the country… let us know that we needed to make the footlong cookie a permanent addition to our menu,” said Paul Fabre, a senior vice president for Subway, in a statement.

Apparently, the cookies are served warm, right out of the Subway ovens. The chain claims to serve more fresh-baked cookies each than any other restaurant brand.

The new footlong cookies are expected to debut nationwide starting in January.

It’s the latest move to freshen up the Subway menu and attract diners. Earlier this year, the company announced that they would begin slicing their deli meats fresh at each store instead of having them shipped pre-cut.
