Car collectors club proposed for vacant Ashburn land

A new luxury car facility for area car collectors has been proposed for a vacant parcel of land in Ashburn’s Commonwealth Center development.

The spot is next door to the XCAL Shooting Sports & Fitness facility on Russell Branch Parkway, just south of Route 7.

According to paperwork filed with Loudoun County, the “club building will include a convention or exhibition facility, featuring a car showroom which will display member vehicles, as well as meeting rooms, offices, and lounge and bar space available to members.”

While most of the club space and services will be reserved for club members and their guests, the showroom will be open to the public to come and see the high-end cars.

There are also plans for a sit-down restaurant at the club as well as a space for concerts or meetings. These spaces will be open to club members and the general public alike.

If these plans sound familiar, you may recall the flurry of buzz a few years ago, when plans for a similar facility called Gas Haus were announced for Ashburn.

While never officially canceled, those plans have not come to fruition and one of the main partners in the project has moved out of the state.

Longtime readers may also remember that the parcel of land on Russell Branch Parkway where the new car facility is proposed for had previously been earmarked as the site of a WaterWalk extended stay hotel. However, those plans also appear to have fizzled.

The collector’s car club plan is still in the earliest phases — the pre-application, pre-meeting phase. So we’ll all have to stay tuned for future details and timelines.
