Cafe Rice & Kabob closes its doors in Sterling

A longtime local favorite — the Cafe Rice & Kabob restaurant in Sterling — has closed up shop. The rumors that started circulating a few weeks ago are apparently true.

In early December, staff at the restaurant located in the Sugarland Crossing shopping center told some customers that they were closing the restaurant. They also mentioned possibly transitioning to a food truck business model.

The Burn stopped in and spoke with an a manager, but — at the time — he said their plans weren’t clear yet.

Now, the furniture in the dining room has been cleared out. The online ordering is turned off. And the phone is going unanswered.

Cafe Rice & Kabob has been a staple of the Sterling dining scene since at least 2008 — the furthest back we can date it — and possibly much longer.

If they do announce a food truck version serving up their kabobs, qabili, tandoori bread, and more — we will let you know.
