Two Loudoun deputies struck by oncoming car

(UPDATED 1:15 p.m.) A scary incident Thursday morning when two Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies were struck by a vehicle while on duty.

According to a press release and witnesses, the deputies were on LCSO motorcycles and responding to a reported vehicle crash on Watson Road near Manber Lane.

The deputies had positioned themselves about 1,000 feet from the accident in order to stop traffic. That’s when they were reportedly struck by an oncoming car.

Both were injured and transported to a local hospital. One of them is listed as being in serious conditions, but both of the deputies’ injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

The driver of the car that collided with them was a juvenile who stayed on the scene and was released to his or her parents.

Witnesses at the scene say Watson Road was very icy in spots this morning, possibly contributing to the accident.
