Heavy police presence in place for president’s visit to Loudoun

People traveling in the Leesburg and Ashburn areas this afternoon may note a heavy police presence on area roadways. That’s because — according to the official schedule — President Joe Biden is in Lansdowne this afternoon.

Per said schedule, Biden was set to leave the South Lawn of the White House — presumably on Marine One — at 2:55 p.m. and fly to the Leesburg Airport off Sycolin Road.

From there, he would travel by motorcade to the Lansdowne Resort where he is speaking to the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference at 4 p.m.

He would then depart from the airport to return to the White House around 5:35 p.m.

Driving along Route 7 in the Lansdowne area this afternoon, commuters could easily tell something unusual was afoot.

There were multiple police cars from the Loudoun Sheriff’s Department and the Virginia State Patrol stationed at various points along the highway.
