Fast casual Indian restaurant celebrating grand opening in Ashburn

Last November, we wrote about a new business coming to Ashburn. It’s name was Akshaya Patra — and while we guessed it was a restaurant — we weren’t certain.

Since then, we’ve learned a lot more about it. Akshaya Patra is the second location for a new fast casual Indian restaurant. The first location is in Ohio.

The new Ashburn location — found in the Broadlands Village Center a few doors down from the Aldi — is holding its grand opening today — Friday, March 1. It started a soft opening last week.

The name Akshaya Patra refers to a legendary copper pot that provides a never-ending supply of food. So, it’s a fitting name for a restaurant.

At Akshaya Patra in Ashburn, you order at a counter from an extensive digital menu board and then take a seat. They call out your name when your food is ready.

The cuisine at Akshaya Patra is focused on southern Indian dishes, but they also have influences from northern India as well. There are both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. You can see the full menu here.
