It’s opening day at a new ice cream shop and factory located on Ashburn’s north side. We’re talking about Authors Best-Selling Ice Cream.
The shop opened today at its spot in the University Commerce Center off George Washington Boulevard north of Route 7. That’s the same center with Taco Zocalo, Wicket Door Pub, Fountain Grill, and Potomac Taphouse.
The Burn stopped by just before the doors opened to get a sneak peek of the new space. Colorful walls and counters, big windows, and plenty of tables deck the shop out.
The back side of the space is an ice cream production facility for the many Authors flavors and guests can peek through a window into this area.

If you’re wondering about the name — like we were — the folks behind Authors say they have a lot of wonderful memories and stories connected to ice cream and they feel that we are each the authors of our own similar sweet memories, thus the name was born.
Authors — which previously went by the name Doughboy Creamery — has been popular at Northern Virginia community events and farmers markets for several years now, but the Ashburn shop is their first brick-and-mortar location.
