Exclusive: Triveni Supermarket opens Friday in South Riding

It’s the news many in South Riding have been waiting for. The new Triveni Supermarket is opening its doors tomorrow — Friday, April 19.

That’s according to the store’s owner who was also kind enough to let us get a few photos inside as Triveni team members worked furiously to put the finishing touches on the store.

The new store — which specializes in Indian and South Asian groceries, spices, halal meat and more — is opening in the South Riding Town Center shopping plaza. That’s at the intersection of South Riding Boulevard and Tall Cedars Parkway.

Triveni has taken the place of the long closed Food Lion grocery store. A portion of the 43,000+ s.f. space has been repurposed as an event space while the rest is the new supermarket.

Triveni Supermarket is a small, but growing national brand. According to the company’s website, it has three locations open — one each in North Carolina, Texas, and Maryland — with several more coming.

The store in South Riding will be its first location in Virginia, although another store is planned for Richmond.

The Burn first broke the news about Triveni taking the former Food Lion space nearly two years ago — back in July 2022. Construction got rolling in 2023 and now, at long last, they are ready to go.

The owner says the store will open at 10 a.m. Friday.
