Ever since the Kirin Asian Cafe restaurant closed in South Riding, area residents have been wondering what would take it’s place. Now we know — a new Mexican restaurant.
The Burn has learned it will be called Mi Azteca — and currently, the owner is aiming for an early summer opening — hopefully sometime in June. Construction is already underway inside.
This will be the second Mexican restaurant for the owner, who also has El Jimador Azteca in Fredericksburg. That restaurant opened in 2017.
He tells us the menu is still being fine tuned, but it will feature all the traditional Mexican dishes that you would expect.
El Azteca will be located at 43053 Pemberton Square, No. 100. That was the home of the much-loved Kirin restaurant for two decades.
Kirin suffered a terrible fire in 2021, then eventually reopened, only to close in December of last year.
