Two fast casual restaurants close for good in Herndon, Reston

In a surprising development, not one, but two fast-casual restaurants have shuttered a store in the area. Both Mod Pizza in Herndon and Taim Mediterranean Kitchen in Reston have closed up shop in recent weeks.

It appears Mod — which was located in the Herndon Centre on Elden Street — closed sometime in March. A sign on the window alerted customers to the closure and the location has been removed from the Mod Pizza website.

Meanwhile, according to a report from the Reston Now website, Taim has also closed suddenly in the Plaza America center — only four months after it opened this past December. It’s Google listing says “permanently closed” and the Reston location has also been removed from the main Taim website.

No word on why the two locations closed — although a certain amount of churn in the restaurant business is common.

Taim is a small New York-based brand, and DC was a relatively new market for them. There is still one location in the area down in the District’s Dupont Circle area. Meanwhile, Mod is a national brand with more than 500 locations, including one in Ashburn and several others around NoVa.
