A new Vietnamese restaurant and bar is coming to Ashburn — and it sounds unlike anything we’ve seen in the area before. It’s called Saigon Outcast and it should open this winter in the suddenly hot “north of Route 7” business area. It’s underway in the University Commerce Center off George Washington Boulevard.
Saigon Outcast is the brain child of a trio of local businessmen. Jason Fisher is a prolific restauranteur from the Arlington/Alexandria area. Saigon Outcast will be his seventh establishment. He is teaming up with entrepreneurs Anthony Catselides and Hoa Lai. Lai is the owner of Four Sisters Grill in Arlington. And yes, that means it’s related to the famous Four Sisters Vietnamese restaurant in Falls Church. (Another Lai brother owns the Four Sisters Snack Bar in Ashburn.)
The new restaurant will feature food service from a counter, a lounge like atmosphere with both regular tables and comfortable couches and chairs. There will also be a large outdoor patio for the warmer months.
Menu items will include a Papaya Salad with Shrimp and Pork; Bo Nuong Tieu Den, which is grilled fresh black pepper beef served on a salad; Bo Nuong Xa, a grilled lemongrass beef on jasmine rice; and Bun Tom Thit, grilled shirmp and pork over rice and noodles.
Outcast will offer some 50 beers on tap, and wine as well, in a self-serve method. Customers will have a card or bracelet that allows them to load it with money and then serve themselves anything from a small sample to a large glass of beer or wine. Fisher says it will be great for people who like to sample lots of different drinks.
We say the area north of Route 7 is “suddenly hot” because besides Saigon Outcast, other new businesses are on the way. The Wicket Door Pub is slated to open next door to Outcast (see our story here). Nearby, The Burn has reported that a new hotel is in the works (see that story here), and several other parcels of land in the immediate area are available for retail and restaurant development as well. Down the road, the large Riverside Square center is under construction.
Soon, Riverside Parkway will connect all the way through between Ashburn Village Boulevard and Loudoun County Parkway, bringing more traffic and business to the area.
Construction crews are hard at work on Saigon Outcast and they hope to have it ready to open by the start of the new year.
