Sad news from Leesburg where today the Eggspectation restaurant announced it has permanently closed. A large sign was posted on the front door of the restaurant at the Village at Leesburg. The reason — fallout from COVID-19.
The Eggspectation at VAL opened back in early 2011 and quickly became popular for its brunch style dishes — ergo the name — as well as its large bar and famous Bloody Marys and other libations.
Eggspecation is part of an international brand based in Canada. There are another eight locations in the U.S., most here in the mid-Atlantic. The other Eggspectation restaurants in Northern Virginia — in Gainesville and Chantilly — are still open.
That’s a shame. They served a very good momosa!
Not sure how they can totally blame COVID-19 when their other locations aren’t closing.
Is that a serious question? It’s basic economics.
When rent protection ended, the landlords asked for the back-rent to be paid, which is around 3x the rent of the other locations. Leesburg was shut down to prevent a whole company shut down. Sacrifice the few to save the many I suppose…
So very sad. My husband and I loved this place. Great food, good service. This is such a shame.
Drat. It was a great breakfast place especially with kids. There are so few of those. The other locations are much too far. I guess it will help save money if all the kid friendly places close.
This is unfortunate, however, I am not surprised. My family has visited both this location and the Chantilly location many times. Having experience both locations, Leesburg always lagged behind with food quality, server attitude and management. The physical location in the shopping center I don’t think I helped them much either. I’m glad to hear the Chantilly location is staying open.
:((
That shopping center landlord thinks/acts like that center is Reston Town center, charging outrageous rent for hoping some customers from Wegmans, might shop. next to close it’d doors will be the Cinema and several other tenants.
