NEW DICKEY’S BARBECUE PIT OPENING TUESDAY IN ASHBURN

It’s the first Loudoun location for this national chain.

Barbecue lovers are about to get the meat sweats — thanks to the new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit opening Tuesday, Dec. 19 in the Ashbrook Commons shopping center. It’s the first Loudoun County location for the national fast-casual chain.

The Burn got a sneak peak at the new Dickey’s, which fits in nicely by Moby Dick’s, Sweet Frog and Jersey Mike’s. Lots of deep browns and wood surfaces with fun art and fixtures on the wall, the store seems designed to evoke the feel of a backwoods BBQ joint.

The menu features popular favorites such as beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken breast and even kielbasa sausages. All the meats are slow smoked and cooked for hours in-house. Sides include mac & cheese, baked beans and a baked potato casserole.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit was founded in 1941 and currently has more than 500 locations around the country. Chris Mills, the owner of the Ashburn location, says he hopes to open several more around eastern Loudoun County.

This place was awful! Paid twenty-five dollars for a rack of ribs that were the equivalent of salty shoe leather. The only saving grace to the meal was stopping someone at the back of the very slow line from making the same mistake. She asked if it was worth the wait and I replied, “Absolutely not. I just threw away a twenty-five dollar rack of ribs because it was inedible.” She promptly thanked me and left.
