KOVI ASIAN KITCHEN COMING TO LEESBURG

The new restaurant will specialize in poke bowls, Korean tacos and more.

Kovi Asian Kitchen

A burgeoning fast-casual restaurant chain that specializes in Korean BBQ tacos and fresh poke bowls is planning a new location in one of Leesburg’s most sought after shopping centers. It’s called Kovi Asian Street Food Kitchen and it’s slated to open in early 2019 in the Battlefield Shopping Center on Edwards Ferry Road.

Kovi opened its first location in Arlington in June 2017 and Vi Nguyen, a Leesburg resident and one of the brand’s founders, said it’s been a great success. So successful, that he and his partner are now planning locations in both Leesburg and Tysons.

Nguyen told The Burn he hopes to have the Leesburg location open by late winter or early spring next year. There is also a Kovi food truck that pops up at many DC area events. (See our previous story about the Kovi truck here.)

The menu at Kovi is primarily a fusion of Korean and Vietnamese cuisines, with dishes such as Bulgogi steak, Dak Galbi lemongrass chicken, roasted caramelized pork, and organic lemongrass tofu. The ingredients can be served in Korean BBQ tacos, banh mi sandwiches, rice bowls, or protein bowls. Kovi also has poke bowls featuring marinated salmon or tuna on rice with a choice of some 18 toppings and sauces.

Kovi Asian Street Food Kitchen is slated to go into the space vacated by the Which Wich sandwich shop, next to Cold Stone Creamery and Starbucks.
