If you live in Leesburg and “love that chicken from Popeyes,” then you’re in luck. A new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen fast-food fried chicken restaurant has been announced for the Compass Creek development near the airport.
In documents released by the Peterson Cos., the project’s developer, it looks like Popeyes is taking a yet-to-be-built building that will go up across Compass Creek Parkway from the Ion International Training Center and just down the road from the town’s new Walmart store. A whole series of retail spaces are scheduled to be constructed there this year and it will reportedly be called the Shops at Compass Creek. A new gas station and convenience store has been announced for the center as has a Buffalo Wing Factory restaurant and a dentist’s office. There’s also supposed to be a hotel on the site, and rumors have circulated that a Starbucks is coming too, but the developer’s have not confirmed that.
There is currently one Popeye’s location in Leesburg, on East Market Street. No word on when the new Popeyes might be ready to open, but we’ve heard construction on the retail buildings may start as soon as next month.
