Scam Alert: Loudoun Sheriff warns of Amazon email scam

If you click on the link in the email, big trouble can follow.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has sent out a warning about a scam they are seeing in the area, involving fake emails from Amazon. This is the a latest in a series of scam warnings issued by the LCSO and other police agencies. Here at The Burn, we are always amazed at some of the schemes people fall for — yet a few years ago, we came close to getting scammed ourselves. So it can happen to anyone.

In the interest of helping prevent these criminals from succeeding in our area, The Burn will periodically present these Scam Alerts to help raise awareness and hopefully save one of our Loudoun neighbors some grief. This one involves a fake Amazon email and if you click on the link provided, the crooks can take over your computer.
