Rocket Fizz in Leesburg closing in December

Sad news for fans of the retro candy and unique soda pops at Rocket Fizz. The sweet shop at the Village at Leesburg is closing its doors after five years in business.

We’re told the store is planning on closing in mid-December. The exact date will depend on how much inventory they still have on hand. There will be sales on merchandise starting soon.

According to the owner, the five-year lease was up at the end of the year, and she decided not to renew in order to pursue other interests.

Rocket Fizz opened in December 2016. Part of a nationwide chain with roughly 80 locations currently, Rocket Fizz features retro candies such as Dubble Bubble gum, Slo Poke caramel pops and The Burn’s favorite — Chocolate Ice Cubes.

The store also carries vintage soda pop brands and sodas with bizarre flavors like Mustard Soda, Enchilada Soda and Maple Syrup soda, as well as non-food novelty gifts and merchandise.

While the Leesburg location may be closing up shop, a new Rocket Fizz location opened earlier this year in Alexandria, if you need your Fizz fix going forward.

Shocked it stayed open that long. Just too expensive center for that kind of shop. Very high turnover at certain centers that charge rent/CAM at Reston prices.
