Roadhouse Momo & Grill coming to Ashburn Village

A new restaurant specializing in Nepalese dishes is in the works for Ashburn Village — the second such restaurant bringing this unique cuisine to Ashburn. It will be called Roadhouse Momo & Grill and it’s slated to open early in the new year in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center.

The Burn has learned that Roadhouse Momo & Grill will take over the space vacated by the Urban Bar-B-Que Company when it closed more than two years ago. That’s a space near the western end of the center, next to Carnegie NY Style Pizza.

The owner of the new restaurant — Pawan Gyanwali — tells us that Roadhouse will focus on traditional Nepalese cuisine. Of course, he says momos will be one of the main offerings. For those not familiar, momos are steamed dumplings, usually filled with a variety of meats, vegetables and other ingredients.

Roadhouse will be a full service, sit-down restaurant with a full bar. Food will be available for carryout and the bar will feature some unique liquors commonly found in the Himalayan country.

“You are going to feel just like you are in Nepal,” Gyanwali said.

Roadhouse Momo & Grill should open sometime in the first quarter of 2022. Work on the space hasn’t started yet, as the lease was just finalized in the past week. Diana Shipley with Saul Centers represented the landlord.

This is the second Nepalese restaurant in the past year or so to announce it’s coming to Ashburn.

All year long, The Burn has been reporting on the progress of Himalayan Wild Yak, a new Nepalese restaurant coming to the Brambleton Town Center. It should be opening any day now.

Yum! I can hardly wait. I was saddened when Urban BBQ closed suddenly, and have been watching to see what will take its place. Thankfully, not another burger-pasta-tex-mex place. This should be exciting!

It sounds like a cool dining experience. I used to go to Lumbini in Baltimore so I really enjoyed Nepalese food. I think their cuisine is influenced by both China and India.
