Italian airline launching non-stop service from Dulles to Rome

Area residents will soon have a new option for getting their Roman holiday on. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has announced the impending arrival of a new airline offering non-stop service between Dulles International and Rome.

The airline is ITA Airways. It’s an Italian state-owned airline that flies primarily domestic and intra-European routes, with some overseas destinations as well.

On June 2, ITA will launch flights five days a week from Dulles direct to Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport. On August 1, they will increase the service to daily flights, seven days a week.

Passengers on this Dulles-Rome route will travel on Airbus A330-neo aircraft, a new jet model introduced in 2018.

ITA Airways currently has flights to four other U.S. destinations — Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and New York. The airline will also add flights to San Francisco this summer.
