New signs for Rivana development pique interest

A series of new signs lined up along Innovation Avenue just off 267 near the intersection with SR 28 has stirred some interest among passers-by. The signs are promoting the huge, upcoming Rivana at Innovation Station project.

According to Loudoun County Economic Development, Rivana is supposed to be a “multi-phase, 103-acre, transit-oriented, mixed-use development that straddles Loudoun County and Fairfax County. The masterplan envisions a 9 million square foot, walkable urban center that is directly connected to the Innovation Center Metro station.”

This includes 1.8 million s.f. of office space, nearly 2,000 residential units, a 265-room hotel, and a 185,000 s.f. “retail village” filled with shops and restaurants.

The signs that have gone up feature idyllic images of the proposed center.

Originally, plans called for ground to break on the project in 2022, but that hasn’t happened yet. The Burn reached out to folks involved in Rivana, and we were told things are brewing, but there is nothing official to release at this point.
