New hotel, retail center proposed for Ashburn

A building project has been proposed in Ashburn that could bring a new hotel to the area as well new retail and restaurant space.

The unnamed project is centered on a parcel of land along Russell Branch Parkway, across the street from the Exclusive Automotive luxury car dealership. The news was first reported by our friends at the Washington Business Journal.

While everything is very preliminary at this point, the developers are currently interested in two options. Both would include a four-story, 138-room hotel.

The first option would also feature an apartment building with residences situated over roughly 28,000 s.f. of retail and restaurant space on the ground floor.

The second option would forgo the apartments and just build a commercial center with approximately 26,000 s.f. of retail and restaurant space.

The stretch of Russell Branch Parkway is currently relatively quiet, traffic wise. But a new bridge is being built nearby that will connect Russell Branch with the north side of Route 7.

Also, the slowly growing Kincora development is just a few blocks to the south along Russell Branch. If and when that really takes off, it would undoubtedly bring a lot more activity to the area with its proposed residences, museums, and retail center.
