Work under way on Ashburn sports bar inside Rubino’s Pizzeria

If you haven’t stopped by the Rubino’s Pizzeria location in the Broadlands area of Ashburn, you may not have seen that construction on the space is going full steam ahead.

Plastic curtains have divided the restaurant in half with business as usual on one side and a work zone on the other.

As The Burn reported back in May, employees tell us that the other half is being turned into a sports bar. And indeed — a partially built bar can be seen running along the wall in the construction area.

As far back as the spring of 2022, the owners of Rubino’s said they were considering something like the new bar — and work finally began on the space earlier this year.

It interesting to note that there used to be a Glory Days Grill — the quintessential sports bar and restaurant — just a few doors down from where Rubino’s is located in Southern Walk Plaza, but it closed many years ago.

Now, the Rubino brothers — who own another Rubino’s location on Ashburn’s north side as well as the three Filling Co. Gas & Grub convenience stores in the area — are going to give sports fans a new spot to hang out on game day.
