Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard opens this week in Ashburn

As summer temps continue to hover in the 80 and 90 degree range, a little bit of relief is arriving this week in Ashburn. The new Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard is opening its windows in the Goose Creek Village development.

That’s at the intersection of Belmont Ridge Road and Sycolin Road.

We say opening its “windows” instead of “doors” because this Rita’s location is a walk-up, window service only location — similar to our local Bruster’s ice cream shops.

This Thursday, August 3, is the big day when the Rita’s team will start serving up the Italian ices, frozen custard, and gelato treats the chain is famous for.

The new Rita’s is located facing Sycolin Road on the lower level of the Goose Creek Village shopping center. If you’re familiar with the Social House restaurant, Rita’s is directly below it on the corner.

Rita’s was launched in Pennsylvania back in 1984 and today there are more than 500 locations in more than 30 states.

According to the brand’s website, this is only the second Rita’s location in Loudoun County currently. The other one is in the Village at Leesburg center.
