Open Road Distilling scheduled to open Monday in Reston

The long anticipated new distillery at the Reston Town Center has announced that it will open for business on Monday, August 28 — and we’ve got a look at the new food and drink menus it will be offering at not one, but two restaurants inside the space.

It’s been more than a year and a half since The Burn first reported the news that the Open Road Distilling Company was taking over the former Balducci’s grocery store space at the RTC.

Plans at the time called for a distillery tasting room offering tours, a bar serving up cold beers, good food, and live music, plus a separate “speak-easy” style restaurant called Heirloom.

Now, those plans have come to fruition — with the opening planned for 3 p.m. on Monday, according to the Open Road website.

The menu at the distillery’s main Open Road Distilling restaurant features craft cocktails, draft and bottled beer, seltzers, and wine — plus flights of the Open Road distilled spirts including American Gin, American Vodka, Independence Bourbon, and Eagle Eye Rye Whiskey.

The food menu includes small plates, salads, wings, pizzas, fajitas, and sandwiches. Entrees include Blackened Salmon, Fish Tacos, Jambalaya, and Steak Frites.

Separately, there is a smaller, more intimate restaurant called Heirloom where the menu includes appetizers such as House Made Herb Focaccia, Beef Carpaccio, and Baked Shrimp.

There are homemade pastas, sides dishes such as Smoked Gouda Mac and Crispy Duck Fat potatoes, and desserts. On the entrees menu, there is an Heirloom Burger, Pan Roasted Scallops, and an 18-ounce Bone In Prime Kansas City Strip, among other items.
