The last remaining traces of Ford’s Fish Shack at the South Riding Market Square have been erased and work has started on the Sense of Thai St. restaurant that is replacing it.
As regular readers know, longtime tenant Ford’s decided to move a mile or two down the road to the East Gate Marketplace center where it is constructing its own building to relocate the restaurant. They closed up their old spot in July.
Meanwhile, The Burn first broke the news about Sense of Thai St. coming to South Riding back in February.
The popular Thai restaurant has its original location at One Loudoun in Ashburn. They also operate Tiki Thai in Reston as well as several other restaurants in the region.
After Ford’s vacated the space, work crews got in there, removed the sign out front, and basically stripped the restaurant down to the metaphorical studs. Now, it’s time for the construction of the new Sense of Thai St. space to begin.
We reached out to get an update from the management team at Sense of Thai St. on when they would like to open the new location. Right now, they say their target is Spring 2024.
