Loudoun’s Little Apple Pastry Shop will stay open until end of December

An update to a story that got a lot of attention earlier this month. The Little Apple Pastry Shop in Aldie is going to be open a little longer than they initially predicted.

Back on October 6, we reported on the news that the beloved local bakery would be closing at the end of October after more than 30 years in business.

Now, the owner — Kay Pitts — has announced that she has gotten an extension and the bakery will close at the end of the year — Saturday, December 30, to be precise.

This will allow the bakery — located on Meetinghouse Lane — to serve customers through the lucrative Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

The closure is happening because the new landlord of the property has to make much-needed repairs and upgrades to the building — work that can’t happen with the bakery still operating there.

Pitts says the new property owner has been working cooperatively with the bakery through the transition. As for the future of the bakery — including the possibility of moving to a new location or operating from a commercial kitchen — that all remains to be seen.
