New section of Northstar Boulevard opens in south Loudoun

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held today to celebrate the opening of a new section of Northstar Bouelvard — a roadway that will soon provide travelers with a new route from Lansdowne to the southern part of Loudoun County.

Construction crews have completed Northstar between Tall Cedars Parkway and Route 50. That’s in the Stone Ridge area south of Route 50.

The roughly 3,500-foot stretch of road includes four lanes divided by a median plus bike and pedestrian pathways on each side.

This is just one part of the extension of Northstar Boulevard. Another section that starts north of Brambleton and currently dead ends by the The Filling Co. Gas & Grub near Evergreen Mills Road is being extended as well.

It will connect Evergreen Mills (the former Shreveport Drive before a name change) with Route 50 to the south — and onward to the new road open today.

Work started on this future section of Northstar earlier this year and is expected to be completed in early 2025.
