Bowlero bowling alley officially open in Sterling

Here’s one that snuck up on us. The old Bowl America bowling alley in Sterling is undergoing a major renovation and has been given a new name. It’s now part of the Bowlero family of bowling centers.

Bowl America was acquired by the parent company of Bowlero back in 2021. Fast forward to this October, and the Sterling Bowl America location on Woodson Drive officially changed its name to Bowlero. That location is off Dranesville Road just south of Route 7.

The new signage is up out front and the exterior will be given a facelift in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the interior is the middle of a major metamorphosis.

Huge new video screens have been added at the end of each lane, as well as new score monitors over each lane.

The shoe rental area is getting a facelift and the party room at one end of the center is being repurposed into an expanded arcade game area.

The diner-style restaurant at the other end is closed and will be replaced by a full bar with seating around it.

There will be an order window for food, but most food orders will be handled by waitstaff who come to your lane, take your order, and deliver your food.

The menu at the restaurant is a traditional Bolero menu at the moment — with staples such as nachos, wings, and French fries.

But we’re told that the Sterling Bowlero is being positioned as a “premium” location and an upgraded menu should be coming soon. In the meanwhile, you can see the current menu below.

Full disclosure, the Bowlero still feels like a bit of a construction zone right now, but when the work is finished, it will be a whole new bowling center for the Sterling area.
