New Uncle Jalapeño restaurant in Herndon blends Mexican, Indian flavors

In what certainly must be one of the most interesting fusion menus in Northern Virginia — a new restaurant called Uncle Jalapeño has opened in Herndon that is distinctly Mexican in nature — but with a generous dash of Indian flavors. It’s a fusion combination not commonly seen, yet makes perfect sense.

Step into the whimsically decorated space and be swept away by the aroma of sizzling meats and vegetables, and the clinking of glasses as guests enjoy handcrafted margaritas and other cocktails.

Located in the Worldgate Center just off 267 at Exit 10, at Centreville Road and Worldgate Drive, Uncle Jalapeño features a menu full of old favorites with new twists.

Sure, there are chicken and steak nachos. But how about vegetable and paneer nachos. There are Mexican-style wings as well as Buffalo wings and BBQ wings. And there there are Butter Masala Gravy wings.

Diving deeper — there are carnitas tacos and fish tacos, but there are also tandoori chicken tacos and paneer tikka tacos. And we’re definitely going to try the Butter Chicken Enchilada on our next visit.

When it comes to desserts, Uncle Jalapeño sticks to its Mexican roots with churros, flan, tres leches, and fried ice cream on the line-up.

The restaurant will celebrate every Tuesday as Taco Tuesday with taco specials galore. And on Mondays, it’s “Kids Eat Free” with a complimentary children’s meal with every paid adult entrée. Plus, Uncle Jalapeño will be having Salsa Music nights on Thursdays and they will also be bringing in mariachi bands to perform.

“It’s more than just a dining experience,” said owner Neel Kamal. “It’s a celebration of culture, flavors, and the joy of coming together over a shared love for exceptional food and warm hospitality.”
