Work is underway on what’s reported to be a new climbing facility on Ashburn’s north side and — at last report — we heard it was going to be called Up Climbing Gym.
The new recreational spot is coming to the Lexington 7 project off Riverside Boulevard on the north side of Route 7 – a few doors down from The Ballpark Loudoun.
That’s next door to the center with Texas Roadhouse, Black Hog BBQ, a Sheetz, a Burger King and several other businesses.
We first reported on the possibility of a climbing gym back in February 2022, but at the time, we were having trouble getting any additional details. And nothing has changed — still can’t find any more information even as construction is underway.
After many months of no visible movement, we’ve now passed by several times and seen crews working in the space.
Huge, colorful pylons and posts are stacked inside the reported 14,000 s.f. space, and some of them are starting to be installed.
We’ll keep trying to get additional information about the plans for Up Climbing Gym and — in the meantime — stay tuned.
