The sign has gone up at the new Rubino’s Sports Pub & Grill in Ashburn’s Broadlands neighborhood — and the opening day is getting closer.
As regular readers know, the Rubino’s Pizzeria in the Southern Walk Plaza shopping center is undergoing a major transformation.
We first reported on the plans to turn part of the space into a sports bar back in May. Now, we’re starting to get details and a glimpse of what’s in store.
The pizzeria has been divided by a floor-to-ceiling wall into two separate spaces. The pizzeria side is roughly one-third of the original space, while the sports bar is taking the other two-thirds.
Rubino’s Sports Pub & Grill will seat roughly 70 people when finished. It will also have a separate menu from the pizzeria, featuring pub style food.
There will be roughly 15 television sets for showing games and matches, and the front windows have been replaced with rolling garage doors that can be opened during nice weather.
When guests come to the front door, they will go to the right to enter the sports bar and to the left to enter the pizzeria. There is also another doorway inside connecting the two spaces.
There’s still work to be done on the sports bar side — the TV installation, flooring, etc. Meanwhile, the pizzeria has gotten a complete remodel too with new counters, new grab-and-go food displays, new booths and tables, and new decor.
The pizzeria is open for business as usual. There’s no firm date yet for Rubino’s Sports Pub & Grill to open, but the Rubino family is looking at early in the new year.
