Ometeo Tex Mex coming to Tysons — and it has a Loudoun link

A new upscale Tex Mex restaurant is getting ready to open in Tysons — and it has a connection to a popular restaurant in Loudoun County.

The new establishment is called Ometeo and bills itself as a “texmexeria” — as in the best of both cuisines — Tex and Mex. It’s located at the Capital One Center, at 1640 Capital One Drive.

Ometeo is the latest restaurant from Long Shot Hospitality — the same restaurant group behind such DC-area favorites as The Salt Line and Dauphine’s.

Here’s where the Loudoun connection comes in — one of the partners in Long Shot is Jon Ball, who is the owner of The Lost Fox Hideaway, the popular American tavern and restaurant at One Loudoun.

Ometeo is large — as in 11,000 s.f. — and it will offer seating for more than 300 people in its indoor and outdoor dining spaces.

The restaurant’s menu is the brainchild of Gabe Erales, who was the winner of “Top Chef” Season 18 and the first Latino to win the cooking show competition.

The Ometeo menu will feature dishes such as the Stuffie “Tamal” with heirloom corn, quahog clams, chorizo verde, and manchego cheese; a Tacos Crujientes with shrimp picadillo, queso fresco, cilantro, and red onion; and a Quail Milanesa, which is fried quail served with mole blanco gravy and fennel slaw.

There will also be elevated fajitas, enchiladas, quesadillas, and more. You can see what we’re talking about in the full menu below.

Ometeo is scheduled to start its soft opening — initially reservations only — on Wednesday, December 6.
