Stunning new Barn at Brambleton event space opens

The developers behind the Brambleton community in Ashburn have really outdone themselves with their latest project. The community has turned an old, run down dairy barn into a state-of-the-art special events venue.

The Brambleton Dairy Barn — now formally called The Barn at Brambleton — is holding its grand opening ribbon cutting today, but The Burn got a sneak preview tour before the big event.

The Barn at Brambleton is located on the southeast corner of Evergreen Mills Road and Belmont Ridge Road. It was built circa 1942 and originally belonged to the Cornelius family.

Anthony Soave — the developer of Brambleton — is the man behind the funding for the barn’s extreme makeover.

There are two main event spaces in the Barn. There’s the Soave Grand Hall on the upper level with space for roughly 225 guests.

Downstairs, there is the Arcola Room that can hold 250 people. This room used to be the primary milking room filled with metal stanchions and stalls for the dairy cows. Some of the stanchions now hang on the wall of the lower lobby.

Much of the wood found on the floors and the stairs came from the original barn and has been repurposed. Same with some large pieces of tin that originally came from the roof of the old barn.

Repurposed wood from the old barn has been used throughout the facility.

The original cupolas from the barn’s roof can also be found around the property as decorative items.

The cupolas that once adorned the roof of the barn are now used as part of the decor. New cupolas have been installed on the roof.

At one time there were two silos on the property. One had to be razed, but the other has been incorporated into the new space and features a circular staircase between the two levels.

The Barn at Brambleton will be available to host special events for anyone in Northern Virginia and beyond. Planners anticipate that it will also become a popular wedding venue — and indeed, there is a bride’s suite where a bridal party can get ready.

There is also a groom’s room — formally called The Milk House — where fresh milk used to be stored.

Tin from the original roof of the barn has been used inside, including on the bar in the Soave Grand Hall, and in the Milk House room on the lower level.

Outside, there is a large portico for outdoor events and it faces a landscaped hillside that forms an amphitheater of sorts. There is also a large deck off the Grand Hall that looks out over a pond.

Landscaped sloping hills behind the barn can be used for outdoor events and perhaps even musical events.

The first public event at The Barn at Brambleton — where local residents can get a look at the space — will be a Christmas market with local artisans planned for Friday, December 15 and Saturday, December 16.
