Sneak peek inside Sixty Vines opening today in Reston

Sixty Vines, the much buzzed about new wine-themed restaurant, officially opens its doors today — Monday, December 11 — in the Reston Town Center. The Burn attended a preview dinner last week and we’ve got a sneak peek inside.

As we’ve been reporting, Sixty Vines has taken over the former Clyde’s space at the RTC. The nearly 13,000 s.f. space has been completely overhauled and given a fresh, new look.

There are lots of two-top and four-top tables in the dining room, but there are also several larger, communal tables for big groups.

Sixty Vines also has a long bar, a large outdoor patio when the weather is nice, plus a separate room for private events.

One of the key elements to Sixty Vines is its 60 wines on tap. These wines come from around the world — but are more eco-friendly because they are in reusable kegs versus glass bottles. We should also point out — this is not a “serve yourself” type place. The wines are poured by the Sixty Vines team.

The restaurant’s menu is inspired by vineyards around the world. On the cocktail menu, we sampled The Dreamsicle, which is Skyy Vodka, Licor 43, Peychaud’s Bitters, orange juice, and lemon. We also had a Carajillo, which has Licor 43, Calusa espresso, and chocolate spiced salt. It’s sort of a new spin on the espresso martini.

We had a cheese and charcuterie board, as well as the crisp fried Brussels, Bacon-Wrapped Dates, and Crispy Zucchini.

We tried the Shrimp & Smoked Bacon pizza plus the Spicy Sausage pizza, with tomato sauce, house made sausage, mozzarella, provolone, pickled fresno peppers, and fennel.

We also had the Wood-Grilled Bavette Steak and an amazing Pork Chop, with roasted tri-color carrots, sage brown butter, pistachio and peppadew romesco. We sampled several of the Sixty Vines desserts as well.

This is the first Sixty Vines in Virginia. The Dallas-based brand has four locations in Texas, two in Florida, and one each in North Carolina and Tennessee. They are working on a location in Washington DC.
