The Great American Restaurants group is well known in Northern Virginia for their popular dining establishments — Sweetwater Tavern, Best Buns, Coastal Flats, the ever-popular Jackson’s Mighty Fine Food, and a number of others.
They have a great batting average, but sometimes things don’t work out. GAR permanently closed one of their concepts on Saturday — the Good Eats Emporium in Sterling.
The restaurant originally opened in 2020 in a building at 45990 Waterview Plaza. The spot was previously a Plaza Azteca Mexican restaurant and a TGI Fridays before that.
We’re told the space will now be used by Great American Community Kitchen. That’s the charitable arm of the restaurant group.
“Great American Community Kitchen… is expanding and operating out of this facility preparing free meals to be distributed by our food truck around the Northern Virginia community,” the company said in a statement to The Burn.
