Autobahn Indoor Speedway in Sterling now K1 Speed

A change over at the Autobahn Indoor Speedway in Sterling. The indoor go-karting track has apparently been sold to another operator and now has a new name. It’s officially become a K1 Speed center.

The announcement was made today on social media: “After nearly 12 amazing years, the time has come to wave the checkered flag here at Autobahn Indoor Speedway. Although we’ve hung up our helmets, K1 Speed will continue to wave the green flag at our nine locations. We thank every one of you for the patronage and support you’ve shown us for over a decade – we’ll always cherish the amazing friendships we’ve made and will never forget the exciting races you all gave us at our tracks.”

Autobhan had nine locations scattered around the eastern United States, including two here in Virginia — the Sterling location and one in Manassas. All have become part of the K1 brand.

K1 has more than 80 locations open or in the works around the U.S. and internationally.

The Sterling location — located at 45448 Severn Way — opened in 2017. Besides go-kart racing, it also featured axe throwing and an arcade. It’s not clear if those components will be kept as part of the new K1 facility.
