The former Mellow Mushroom building in Herndon has been empty ever since the pizza restaurant closed last May. Now, a new tenant is taking over the space.
Construction crews are already working inside the building at 1030 Elden Street, giving it a makeover.
Meanwhile, outside the big train mural is gone and there’s a banner hanging on the facade saying its the future home of the Maharani Palace, an apparent restaurant, lounge, and banquet hall featuring Indian cuisine.
The sign also mentions the Ghungroo Lounge plus the Mughal Garden Room and the Mehfil Room, which we suspect are rentable spaces for special events.
The website for the restaurant doesn’t appear to be active yet, so details are still scarce. We’ll keep you posted on menus and an opening date when they are announced.
