A new Dunkin’ Donuts location in Sterling has officially opened for business – although it’s really more of a relocation than an actual new store.
The Burn first broke the news last April that the Dunkin’ location in the Great Falls Plaza off Algonkian Parkway was moving spots.
The donut shop moved in order to add a drive-thru option — something that has been a top priority for many chains, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dunkin’s previous 2,000 s.f. location in the center was what’s known as an “in line” position – meaning it was nestled in between two other stores with no option for a drive-thru. Now, it’s on an “end cap” position.
The new spot used to be a bank so there was already a drive-thru lane in place.
We’re told the old Dunkin’ location closed last Thursday and the new one opened the following day. No word yet on a future tenant for the now vacant previous Dunkin’ spot.
