Work is underway on a massive retail space in Leesburg that will be the future home of both a Sprouts grocery store and a Boot Barn apparel store.
The more than 36,000 s.f. space in the Battlefield Shopping Center used to be a Stein Mart department store. It’s being split into two separate spaces — roughly 12,000 s.f. for Boot Barn and 24,000 s.f. for the Sprouts Farmers Market.
A fence surrounds the front of the building that will house the new stores, and a banner touts it as the future home of a Sprouts location.
Right now, it appears that work that is being done is not the actual start of construction on Sprouts or Boot Barn, but rather the prep work that the landlord has to do first.
In many cases like this, with two new tenants coming in, a landlord will have construction crews clean up and prepare the old space. A “demising wall” — to use an industry term — will be built down the middle to create the two new spaces.
Once it’s ready, only then will it be turned over to the new tenants — who will each have their own construction teams come in to transform the empty spaces into a Boot Barn and a Sprouts.

Boot Barn is a national chain specializing in western style apparel. This includes a large selection of cowboy boots as well as men’s, women’s and kid’s clothing and accessories.
Sprouts Farmers Market is a national grocery store chain that focuses on organic foods and healthier options including gluten-free items, plant-based products, and non-GMO choices.
No timetable yet on when either store might open. We will have a better idea once their individual construction teams begin their work.
